In this virtual workshop, we’ll dive into the vivid, sensory-rich world of ekphrastic poetry—poems inspired by visual art. We’ll explore how images can evoke emotion, memory, and story, and how we can translate what we see into powerful poetic language.

Through a mixture of examples, discussion, and prompts, you’ll have the chance to respond to selected works of visual art and generate your own ekphrastic poems, including responds to art by local Santa Cruz artist Rebecca Lynne currently in exhibit at lille æske arthouse.

This workshop is open to all levels of writers, artists, and curious creatives. No prior poetry experience is necessary—just a willingness to observe closely and write freely. Come ready to unlock your imagination.

Presented by lille æske arthouse and Harpy Hybrid Review.
