Lille æske 2.0 (as we’ve been calling it) is getting ready to (re)open the doors and will be kicking off the fall season with a First Friday group show / grand opening party on September 6th. Titled “Transitions,” our aim is to showcase works by local artists that inspire or interpret the theme: “about change, about evolution, about flux, about time, about metamorphosis, & about becoming something else.”
Lille æske has always been a community space and as we develop its newest iteration we felt strongly that our first First Friday should celebrate the breadth and variance of our community’s creativity, and make explicit the change that is happening within our treasured “little box” as well as beyond its walls, in the world at large and in each of our interior lives. As the adage goes, the only true constant is change — yet we often resist its power, holding onto what is known and bemoaning the speed with which we're carried into the unfamiliar. Much visual art gives form to fleeting things, attempting to lock in a moment in time, a cast of the light, an idea or dream. We find there is a particular resonant hum to art that traces the edges of something in motion — the passage of time itself, the state or sensation of being between.
Join us in celebrating these visions and depictions of flux, momentum and even uncertainty at lille æske’s re-birthday!
With live music by Sugar by the Pound.
